+ M2 THE LARGE PRINT SHOW - OPEN EXHIBITION OF LARGE WORKS IN PRINT
Selected by Bruce McLean
22 March - 11 May 1997
Wolsey Art Gallery
An open submission exhibition which aimed to give an opportunity for artists working within the discipline of print, mediums and techniques to show large scale works. The exhibition was open to artists working within the perimeters of print living in England, Scotland, Wales.
The selector, Bruce McLean, first came to notice in the late 1960's as a sculptor re-thinking
the possibilities of three-dimensional work in terms of form, scale and permanence. In the early 1970's he took to live performance and pose and in the mid-1970s he turned to painting and rapidly established himself as an international figure adding a dazzling output of ceramics, sculpture, sculpture furniture, artist's books, prints and design commissions in the 1980's and 1990's. At the time of the exhibition he was the Head of Printmaking at the Slade School of Art, London.
The selected artists were Veronique Chance, Mickey Dell, Paul Deller, Jeffery Edwards, Cameron Fraser, Tom Hammick, Emma Johnson, David Laing, John Lambert,
Simon Lewandowski, Heather Muddiman, Basia Muslewska, Tom Pearman, Rachel Pearson, Urbano Resendes, Andrew Sneddon, Melissa Timms, John Utting and Pak Keung Wan.
The works ranged from computer generated images to silk screen printing on supports as varied as canvas, paper and steel.
